Gday guys can you buy a smaller screen for a 08 Vara?Failing that what would be the best way to cut down the stock one? :beer:Peter

A gas axe would be quick but might not produce the desired results  ::)

The problem is not going to be cutting it but how to hold it and avoid scratching the bit you want to keep.

A fine toothed hand saw to cut it (on the bike) and then a sander to smooth the edge.

I have used a home made 'hot knife' previously, a piece of 30A copper cable across the terminals of an old 24v lorry battery.
It leaves a natural 'bead' on the plasic.
I found it more accurate to fix the wire and move the screen....tip #1...have a couple of practice cuts above the line you want to get down to .....tip #2 ...slowly slowly....dont force it!
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path..... and leave a trail...!

Having made and cut many screens, I recommend using wide masking tape, draw the line required on the masking tape then using a medium blade in a copping saw, cut away!  Use paraffin or white spirit to lubricate the saw and to stop it clogging.
Finish off with a sharp blade held side on and drawn along the cut edge. :)

Have you checked that the screen is in its lowest position.  There are two positions available.
