Allright, i inspected it closer and found that the bolt tightening the throttlebody to the front cylinder had fallen off. So air leak was the problem. Also added some motul valve & injector cleaner. Now it runs like new.

Hello, first time poster here

My 2011 efi 125 varadero has started having a choppy idle.
The idle stays at 1700rpm 75% of the time, but sometimes it just drops to ~1000rpm as if it were running on only one cylinder. Also, when driving and i pull the clutch in and give it revs so it doesnt drop to idle it sometimes bangs.

High rpm is fine.

It has been driven 62 000 km, it leaks oil a bit and has a Dominator slip-on, if that's relevant. Oil, plugs and the air filter have been changed ~3000km ago.

What could cause this?

Check if fuel is flowing freely to carbs.
Follow Shop manual, Section 5 for carburetor service and adjustment.

Ok so bike doesn't want to play was running fine ish when I got it but was really slow at pick up in 1st gear so changed the air filter as it was dirty took the carbs off to clean them as the previous owner didn't have them on right cables wct all over the place checked all jets all clear. Air mix screw set at 2 3/4 now it won't start without choke revs like poo and then dies when choke is released am I missing something ??

Quote from: RobtheBold on  15/09/25 - 22:48:43Hi John - I'm new to this forum and to Varaderos.  I've only had mine on the road since April this year and on a group ride yesterday, I realized the noise I was hoping was any Harley near me was in fact me ... being new to this Forum, I can't seem to DM other members - would love to know more about the Brass gaskets, if you don't mind!

The link in the post below in this topic gives you the sizes you need and this Item shows how they fit :

I have no doubt you will find similar PB bushes in .ca

Solid bushes (without a diagonal cut) wont work.

Quote from: John J on  31/03/23 - 15:42:38I have recently been asked by another Varadero 1000 owner where to get brass exhaust seals as we can't really find any for sale anymore. There are still loads of carbon replacements for sale but, as we know, they don't last long whereas brass will last forever.
There is one listing on Amazon but they look chamfered and not right for a replacement for Honda Part Number 18392-MBH-000 but maybe it's just a generic picture in the advert.
Anyway, this led me to talk to a contact I know who makes brass fittings and he is going to make me a few next week. I had one new brass seal that we used for the measurements.
So if anyone is interested in buying some brass ones send me a pm and I'll update when the new ones arrive. If you have a carb bike you will need to check the part number mentioned above fits your model.
