Could you explain what you mean in a little more depth for us electrical numptys?

I know you're probably going to think I'm a bit dense, but what is a relay and what is its purpose?

It's one of these.........http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relay

That surprises me.   They do provide relays for the headlights to avoid overloading the switches and to provide a full 12.5v at the bulbs.

By not providing a relay for their grips they are accepting a voltage drop - probably some 15% - and accepting less effective heated grips. I believe they have a rather ineffective rotary graduated switch- that would probably overheat at the higher settings with a full 12.5v. - .  I much prefer the more realistic off/on Lo/on Hi. Switch of the after-market sort - with a relay.

Had load of trouble with mine, Honda grips dealer fitted from new. Wrecked three sets untill they wired them to a decent power source, Belive they were using a lighting circuit to start with. I'd go for the relay option then you know there plenty of juice to the grips.

MacValk fitted my Oxford ones for me whilst I hung about his driveway lowering the tone of the area.

Worked a treat, & he made a smashing job. I'd recommend him to anyone  :D

PS All work comes with a 1 hour or 1 mile warranty (which ever comes first).

In that case, it must be time to organise a "Heated Grips Group buy" and a weekend run to MacV's for the free fitting and a cuppa/bacon sarnie from Mrs MacV  :P

Heated grips - yes, Honda make provision for it alright.  Off the Brake Light Switch on the handlebars - shish.  Hense, why heated grips (honda ones) don't really work, because of the current availablity and voltage drop by the time any kind of voltage gets to the left handlebar grip [furthest away from power take off from light switch].

Phil thought I had problems with my hands going numb.
