Breather pipe on 06 model

I had the tank off the bike again today to check out the source of a used oil/petrol kinda smell coming up through the gap between the fairing and yokes. Any how, could not find anything untoward with that but noticed the breather pipe on the left side as you sit on it had a Y piece in it and a length of pipe went along the left hand side and ended quite abruptly in a clamp. This to me looks very odd and was wondering am I missing something from here? as why would it be like that. Any help would be great here as it really does look like something is missing here
Cheers for such a great forum guys.

I had same smell on my 06 took tank off and the pipe on the left side as you sit on the bike was blocked with crap it also had a kink in it near the tank. Cut off a bit so no kink and unblocked it job done smell gone. But mine was just a pipe running down into the sump guard with no clamp or anything. Hope this helps.

Cheers for that Spooky, did the smell go after that also? All I can smell now is the ACF 50 that I daubed on the bike when apart, but I keep a vigilant nose for if that smell comes back again.
