Cannot decide between Scottoiler or Lubetronic :-\.

Dealer doe's not recommend  <nonono> :nono: Scottoiler as Vara is fuel injected,

something about messing up the vacuum in engine.

he recomend's Lubetronic,
as it is electronic nothing to do with engine vacuum,

Help  #sos# what do you  recommend, would like to get it fitted before vim10.

Marshall Honda in Peterborough had no such qualms in fitting a Scottoiler to my FI Vara.

big al

I had a Lubetronic fitted to my Vara with the optional electronic comntroller an dI've a Scottoiler on my KTM with the touring reservoir. I liked the Lubetronic becasue you could use cheap gear oil but the touring reservoir is brill on the Scottoiler. There is no problem fitting a Scottoiler to a FI bike but be careful with the deliver tube which ever you go for - the exhaust from the rear cylinder makes it a difficult installation.

Thanks to all have responded,

still struggling,   which would you all fit given the choice?

My guess is that it is more to do with the dealers markups than messing up any fuel injection. I've never heard of a scotoiler upsetting fuel injected bikes, provided the manifold pressure is maintained.

After all, that same connection is used for the carb balancing gauges which don't seem to screw up the injection?!

I've never used the lubetronic but by the looks of it, they both do the same job. I'd get whichever is cheapest!

The 'plus' of both systems is that you never forget to lube your chain.... the 'minus' is you inevitably forget to ever check your chain.
If you have a full stand it takes something approaching 30 seconds tops to spray the chain .... and you get to see a full 360 degree inspection.
Some of the better spray lubes dont fling at all if you allow them to dry overnight.
I suppose it depends on your mileage..... if you clock up 3-400 miles a week in all weathers then the autolube is a must.... if your a 4000 a year man (when its sunny) then a spray can will do ... the chain would last you 3 years without a drop between services anyway.
Just my tuppence worth having gone down both routes....
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path..... and leave a trail...!
