Hi all,

This is my first post here i hope someone can help. I own a 2004 non abs 1000cc varadero with 18500 miles on it. Periodically when i go to start it the clocks go blank then come back on a second later but the time and trip ododmeter have reset themselves. I have checked the battery terminals and they are fine. I also have a problem where on occasion i turn on the ignition and the fuel pump fails to prime, i have to crank it a few times and then turn off the kill switch and back on to get it to prime.
Any help regarding these issues would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

The clocks reset themselves when the battery is removed. If the battery terminals are good, it could be a bad earth or s barkers suggestion of a failing battery.

Try a refresher charge before splashing out on a new batt. It may last the summer or even longer. Alarms cane the battery when standing.

Thanks all,

my battery failed at the end of last year so due to budget constraints brought a cheap one. it cranks the engine but not as fast as it should. it is kept on a optimate on the rare occasion it makes it into the shed, but it is in use most days for the 15mile commute into work. i only really put it away when i have a few days off and it promises to rain. what amp/hour battery do you recomend? The bike doesn't have an alarm so the only drain on the battery is the hiss system.

thanks
