Title: CROSSRUNNER
Post by: Earwig on 13/03/11 - 18:41:04
Hey

At last a price has been published for the Crossrunner  ;D Only ?9075  <yikes>  :rtfm:

See http://www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/adventure/# (http://www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/adventure/#)!/crossrunner/

Looks like they dont do any extras yet, such as panniers, centre stands, top box :wallbash: <doh>

So.... If you have just robbed a bank  :uglystupid2: ...give it a look

Ouch.  Out of my league for a few years :(

...Might be able to pick up a 2011 bike in 2015/16 if SWMBO lets me :)

It's actually cheaper than I thought it would be.

As a comparison of basic out of the crate prices:
Tiger 1050 is ?8,999
Gs1200 is ?10,550
Multistrada is over ?10,500

Not coming out until April-May

Took the Tiger 800 out last week.

Pros:
Light weight, nice motor, handles well, seems well built.

Cons:
Low geared (4K rpm = 56mph), Low bars - almost like Street Triple, Felt really small like a 250, screen useless. kept looking for 7-8-9th gears.

The VFR 1200 Luggage from Honda is approx ?1250 and now the Crossrunner luggage is purportedly to be around ?1400 (anyone got a link?).  It's almost guaranteed that new model bikes will have more expensive luggage :(

The thing is, when they get someone to purchase a 'new' bike they can then sweeten the deal by throwing in ?1400 worth of luggage that in fact costs them ten times less - and to keep this deal sweetener they also have to keep the costs high in the accessories shop too :(

<nonono> You can't tell me that luggage for older bikes (on sale for a whole lot less) costs any less to manufacture.

Thought ?1200 was expensive for BMUU alloys but this makes them look reasonable!

http://www.ashonbikes.com/content/honda-crossrunner-review (http://www.ashonbikes.com/content/honda-crossrunner-review)

"Bits and bobs are borrowed from other Hondas too. The luggage for example comes from the VFR1200F, so it?s very sophisticated, a little small and very expensive. "

So ?1400 is a bit on the high side :)  (Still too damn expensive thought :( )

Just read a good review of the cross runner by Kevin Ash.
Didn't realize that it really is a VFR800 underneath almost entirely. Not just engine but frame, etc., etc.

I've got a red one allocated from Honda from June 6th to June 17th to take to Slovakia for VIM, but unless circumstances change next week I'll have to pass on the offer.
Unfortunately there are no panniers in the country and all Honda have is a top box and tall screen. Went to local dealers yesterday to have a proper look and to be honest, without panniers its a none starter. I was going to try and use soft luggage thow-overs but the tail of the bike just won't accomodate them. Just don't fancy 10 days away with a top box as only luggage. Also no way to fit a GPS unless Honda bring one out .

I wonder who will be the first person to actually buy a CROSSDRESSER and admit to it in public?
I thought I may start a book on it:

Max odds on favourite
Toni...Im having a pink one if Maxi does...5/2
TPD...it suits a Grandad...3/1
Barker (nobody will see it up here)....4/1
Mark H...(it only cost a 2 race bonus),,,5/1
Lazy Rider....firm outsider as he cant get his leg over anything too high....

Any more entries?

I think you should lend it to minkyhead as he would get it to the top of any hill-anywhere.

But it would come back in a taxi ceased up. 10/1 :rofl

I hope someone goes along and asks them why they forced David Silvers to stop selling Post 2002 Honda spares :tickedoff:
