In the market for a new sleeping bag for touring, just wondered what everybody else uses or recommends. Also as a side note, what do you guys use to hold your kit on with on the back seat area,or how do you pack it in general....yes I'm a rookie :-[. Thanks for any help.

Hoping to do both really but I understand the sleeping bag requirements aren't the same.Just wondered if anyone had come up with a system for all events.Interested to know what peole use to tie it all on with also.

this is the best/neatest method if you dont have/use panniers. holds a multitude of things securely and dry. couple of hefty bungies usually is enough to hold it all in place

I use a Deuter Travel lite 350 sleeping bag which cost about ?80 from cotswolds outdoors. keeps you warm down to minus 7 and is very light and compresses down nice and small. As with any kit you get what you pay for but its been fine for me. I use a rollpack from Hein gerrick to carry my kit on the back of my vara but always pack everything in waterproof bags as i dont think its completely waterproof.

Aldi were (still are I think) flogging heavy duty 40L stuff bags for ?7....I have 2 and they dont leak.
I have a genuine British army sleeping bag.... I believe they have best experience of rough sleeping and having to carry the f 'kin stuff......also they do come in 'mans size' rather than Jockeys and wimps.... ok not so much XXL .... more FFB
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path..... and leave a trail...!

.....and remember, "Light travels faster than the speed of sound, which is why some people appear bright until they speak"

a fleece liner is always a nice treat if you are out and the weather drops dependant how much you wanna spend i spent a tenner in tescos and its saved me a couple of times.
i use a highland sleeping bag goes down to minus 10 and compreses down to the size of a pair of boots only cost bout 40 quid. but honestly thermal liner worth its money in gold !!
