Fitting Givi engine bars

Hi Folks

Just fitted a set of GIVI engine bars to my 10 plate Vara, however with everything aligned and bolted up the fastening bolt spacer that joins the two sides of the lower part of the bars is nowhere near compressed and just slides loosely about on the threaded bolt. Even though i've tightened it up about as far as i dare . So took it off as appears useless !  Also the same lower joint bracket edge is only about 3mil off the exhaust downpipe!, although not touching it . Everything is lined up and tightened just fine. My question is . Is this right? has anyone else had the spacer issue? will the bracket being close to the downpipe cause the paint to peel off ?, is it normal ?

appreciate any thoughts ?

Thanks

Just fitted mine on thursday. '57 plate.

Very similar experience. Tightened up the bottom joint as tight as I dare but the spacer is still spinning free.

Will contact GIVI on monday.

I fitted spacer washers to mine to make it tight.

Hi all

Well I've left the spacer off and all seems ok . Done quite a few miles with the engine bars fitted . Its well tight and secure without it, no rattles or vibration. Think i'll leave it as is,  unless anyone can think of a reason why not. Perhaps the spacer is just to stop overtightening (not likely, way too short)  , or cosmetic ?  As it is,  its useless anyway . Just can't understand how they have made the spacer so short, because it would never have fitted , there's about a 10mm gap! Ah well  wont lose ant sleep over it .

Cheers

Forgot to email GIVI  :(

So had another go and managed to get the bars to nip up to the spacer.

Anyone know the correct torque setting for the engine mounts?

The enthusiast

Hi redeye!

Centre engine mounts are 39nm in my manual mate .
