swopping from an 06 to a 10plate

Hi all

I am fortunately the proud owner of a new 10 plate Varadero that I part exed my V6 Model for . Before I gave it to the dealer I took off al the enhancements and accessories that I had added over the time I had it. So I've just come in from the garage and just for the information of anyone going from the previous model to the latest I can tell you which of my accessories are interchangable.

MRA Vario screen is a straight swop , no difference.

Givi Engine bars wont fit as the newer designed bellypan/bashplate is different . You could do some cutting and welding but .....

NWS rear hugger is a straight swop , no problems. I noted that when I took it off the old bike there was a bit of corrosion under the right hand mounting where it fastens to the rear brake pipe clips on the swinging arm. you cant get in to clean there so , dosed the new one with ACF 50and ill take it off and clean it once in a while.

My luverly Corbin seat wont fit, not even with some wishful thinking . Its a different shape . New model has different side pannels and seat profile. Ah well maybe the standard seat will be an improvement on the old o/e one will have to be cause as far as I am aware Corbin and Sargent etc don't do a seat for the 07 on models .

The MV Veholen Footrest lowering kit is again a straight swop no change in the footrests or mountings/ gear change or rear brake.

K & N Air filter is a straight swop, same airbox as the older bike.

Touratech alloy handlebar brace will fit both too , handy for me satnav . Bars are the same so my" Bar end replacement  Cruise control" goes straight on.

Dealer agreed to swap the centre stand over too, however I think the mechanic wishes he hadn't, because he said it was a bitch of a job getting it off the old bike, two hours to do the job near enough, glad I wasn't paying.

One thing I did notice was that the fuel injection is a bit smoother on the new bike , probably next generation I imagine . There is no cold start lever next to the clutch . they left the same handgard and lever assembly as the old bike . Its just now "missing" and the gap where it should be is still there !. The other thing i'm not sure is an improvement , is the idle speed  manual adjuster is also missing from right side of the engine below the fuel tank. Stuck with the idle the bike thinks it should have now, rather than setting the one I think it should have!

Over all the bike is an improvement in relation to the V6 I traded, feels a bit lighter, a bit smoother, suspension a bit firmer all round.

As with many things the last of its breed tends to be the best( but not always!)  or at least they have it all as sorted as they can after constant model development over its life. Then they scrap it and launch a new one and the cycle begins again !

Interesting to see the new replacement .

im  glad  its  going  well  ..
i would be interested in your seat if your selling  may as well ask     ..nothing  ventured  ectect

ive got a sargent on me vee strom   and its  ace

im using a airhawk on the vara  as the front part of the seat  kinda crushes the family eirlooms
the airhawk has served me well  ive had it for  years    ..it  may solve your problem too if u get stuck

..but  if yourselling  plaese let me know       O0
these are really  really  comfy   it has air pockets inside  ..the idea is to have  very little air in it  and it moulds to the seat and your ass   ..i have some old pics below  belive it or not  thas all the inflation u need  to be comfy  it doesnt  raise the seat height  in any noticble way
you blow it up with the valve  just visible  and twist and release air  when your sat on it   ..you will feel when its right  ...
 upside  fits any  bike
very very effective
lasts for along time
downside
quite dear
around 130 quid for the nearprayne  one
not the best looking  thing
cover can get soggy  when raining
no biggy but remove when in digs    is a slight pain

much better than crushed nuts though     :o
i was out today  trough of bowland   lovley rideout  ..enjoying the bike too
heres a pic from today with the airhawk fitted
