Hi , I noticed a while back in the what I have fitted section that Nosnibor35 (Martin) had ordered the hypro lowering kit. How are you getting on with the new lowered bike? I know this is a well worn topic but I am thinking of lowering my Varadero to help cope with the weight and maneuvering it around (especially backing it in to my garage over fairly steep and muddy and rough ground - can't get my feet down enough for a good shove backwards).  Sorry for bringing this up yet again but I am finding the bike a but of a handful at the moment. I am not sure about a seat reduction because I don't want to mess up the riding position or put the pillion (relative to me) to up in the air.

Not sure How far you have got but it might be worth your while contacting this chap

I had a black bird seat done with him it was lowered and had gel inserts to boot. When i got it back it looked amazing and was loads more comy than it was originally and all for 250quid before you embark on lowering the whole bike get in touch with this chap it may save you a lot of coin

Did you drop the forks a little as well? has it changed the handling?

Davech, I'll let ya know tomorrow, been too busy to try it yet. Forks down 20mm....

oldvaraman

Trip round Derbyshire today, no probs with handling except turns in a little quicker on slow bends.......

Yeah, I noticed the steering was a little quicker on mine when I dropped the forks, due to steepening the steering angle, I guess.

But if the rear squats down the same amount, shouldn't that compensate...?

oldvaraman

I don't think so. the back end just follows the front really. ya still altering the front fork angle, which will change the steering geometry a little, I may lift mine back 5mm. to 15mm n see how that feels.

Davech42

<thanks>Is the handling sharper? blunterer? better? worse? or the same?

Not really found any of the above, Its just that the Bike falls into the bend a bit quicker. It would do anyway if ya dropped the front end down. by dropping the rear as well it may be that it emphasises it even more. but its only on tight bends, other than that mine performs normally, ya just have to compensate on tight bends.  someone a bit more technically minded may have a better take on it.

Does this mod render the main stand useless ?? Is it harder to get the bike up on it?  :(
