Blahhhh

ahhhhh thank you.

Next add-on will either be the bigger screen or hand guards...looked at the transalp and the big Vara today at Vic (Highway Robber) Devine's and I reckon the handgaurds should fit the wee varo so I asked the ancient white bearded parts guru if they would fit ok? and he doth give forth his vertible wisdom....err dunno m8.

Oh sorry, thought I was in a Honda dealership, but was obviously mistaken.
Should have asked him for some fish fingers and ask what happened to his TV advertising career instead.

So I think maybe the bigger screen from France may be my next purchase...stay tuned

Well done A......

Little Miss MacValk said "thats daddy's bike" when we left you at J&S.

Took the plunge, and got a box of Oxford Hot Grips (-'cos it might be COLD in Poland in May!). Now to fit them  O0

Before I plunge straight in (- with the help of aitzw's "how to"), can anyone shed a bit of light or offer some advice on the following;
1) Has anyone fitted the controller for Oxford grips anywhere other than the handlebar (as per aitzw's photo)? I've contemplated fitting it below the LHS handlebar, on top of the fairing, and even possibly inset into the fairing. Any reasons why it can't or shouldn't be put there? Has anyone put one on and found it to be fouling on tankbags, for example? Is it a cable tie that's used for fixing it to the h/bar?
2) It looks as if there will be a lot of spare cable from the grip to the controller; should that be trimmed to suit? If so, what about the wee white connector that it comes with (already attached); can it be re-used?
3) I don't want to risk wiring it straight to the battery; I'd probably forget to switch them off. There's been numerous posts about where to wire it to (horn, ignition, brake light);- is any one better than the other? And does it need to be a soldered connection?

As ever, your help would be much appreciated  :D , as would any funny comments

I was looking at a Vara in Thunderroad the other day which had a set up just as you describe, and it looked very tidy. With the controller on the handlebar it can get a bit cramped. :)
Butt?, F*cking Butt?? It's F*cking Sarge to you!

I'd say leave it somewhere easily accessible. You'll want to adjust it on the move without fouling the handlebars etc.

Stick it on the L/H/S inner panel of the fairing.  ;)

Easy to get to and hides all the wiring.

HC,...
I seem to remember is a previous thread long long ago in a far off land that you said you were hopeless with such things.

If you want, I am quite happy to lend a hand as I have all the tools you could possible need (soldering iron, multimeter, wiring, tie wraps, crimping tools, sledge hammer, fire extinguisher etc).

I am qualified as well (trained electrical and electronics technician before I got into my current way of life).

If you want any hands on help give us a shout m8

Ok MacValk; the fire extinguisher settles it; when can you do it? ?30 fitting charge, you say? Well ?25 seems a bit dear, but if you're insisting on ?20, I suppose I could haggle with you: ?15?- how about ?10? OK,OK,OK; I'll give you Five (- YES, FIVE) whole pounds for your trouble.

Mark H; my thinking about putting it off the handlebars is that it's not really something you need to find "urgently". Unless it gets REALLY cold, VERY quickly  :P

Redeye; have you got yours fitted there? If so, any chance of a digi foti?

More urgent is when they get REALLY HOT! I use the Honda ones and they do get very warm.. but I also tend to use handlebar muffs which make a massive difference. Warm dry hands.. lovely.

None of it is as good as the heater in the car though...

I'm not a woose with heated grips  >:(
But I put my cigar lighter there so seems the obvious position....out of the way but handy.

I'm pretty flexible as far as time is concerned.
Let me know when suits you.

PS would be a damn sight easier if you were to come to my gaff (as all my tools and stuff are here).

Obviously! >:(
What is it with coppers that they have to state the obvious. "In a hurry are we Sir?", "My, this a fast motorcycle Sir!", "Didn't see me parked in the bushes then Sir?", "Ashtray next to the lighter Sir, that's a good idea Sir".

Of course its next to the ashtray! No good putting it on the seat behind me is it. Ash would blow off me fag as I tried to get to it!
