Oxford Hot Grips

Next, you need to wire the grips into the 12v power...you can either take the dead easy route and stick the O connectors straight onto the battery terminals but then you have to remember to switch them off or you will flatten the battery. I chose to wire them into a switched supply so that I could leave them on.

To get to the fuse box tyou need to remove the seat and then the side panel, which is easy to do and is held in place by a couple of bolts (hex - in your tool kit for the key) and not much else.

Blahhhh

I then chose to solder thered wire onto the non-fused side of a switched 12v supply (used the ignition one)

It is not a good idea to solder anything outside, In October, in Scotland..It just doesn't work....So I will need to revisit that solder joint in the warmer months or if I get a more pwerfull soldering iron.

Once that is done, fit the black wire to the -Ve terminal of the battery and run the cables up to the controler following the same path as the other cables take, i.e under the fuel tank and out at the headstock.

Blahhhh

Make all the connections, tidy the cables making sure the dont foul on anything when you turn the bars left right left. Cable tie them down so the dont work loose.
Replace all body parts, refit the seat et voila...one set of heated grips fitted by a complete novice...with dodgy slabs and loose chippings...and a fence that needs painitng..apparently  ;D

Best bit to the whole process.....taking them out for a run to try them....mmmm...toasty

I'm here    ^

However I have done electrical engineering (a long time ago) and some mechanical repair work on timeclocks and pendulums (again a long time ago) so I don't fear trying this sort of work.

Go on have a go, you know it's worth it.

Del - Long way to go for a cuppa (check Aitzws' profile for location), mind you if you did go, have a pint with the scottish contingent (you'll be buying) and you will return to wales with a penchant for wearing lilac clothing  ;D ;D
