The problem is being certain that they are EBC pads !

General / XL1000V only runs on one cylin...

Hi!
Last week I attached a loose bolt for the left crash bar, which meant taking off the cowls on the left side.
I also changed both relays for the turn signal.

This morning, it seems like it only runs on one cylinder - not much power, and a little bit of weird vibration. Are there anything I may have disconnected that is not easy to think of, or should I just check spark plug connections, and probably spark plugs themselves?

It is still slow to start the turn signal in coldish weather (13 degrees celcius) - I've tried cleaning the turn signal housing a bit, and changed both relays. What is my next step?

Battery is new, fresh, and 13.6 volts.

EDIT: 2001 Varadero, so carburetors.

I NEVER use disks and pads from the same manufacturer on my cars, I usually rund MTec rotors and EBC Bluestuff pads, though EBC RP-X was a MASSIVE upgrade on my Fiesta ST180.

My experience (on bikes other than the XL125) is that sintered pads don't make a lot of difference in dry conditions.

It's good practice to always fit disks and pads from the same manufacturer.

Buying brake parts on Ebay is not a good idea.

Have anyone here tried EBC (or any other) sintered brake pads on the Varadero 125?

I think the front brake on the Varadero 125 is a bit weak and sluggis so I'm wondering if a set of EBC sintered pads would be a notisable upgrade.

Quote from: Steve on  09/05/25 - 13:00:13Hi,
I have just fitted a 170 kit with the stage 3 cams to my 2009 varadero and it has made a huge difference!!
The major difference is the torque at low and mid, it no longer notices the hills and just flies up them in 5th gear.
Top speed has increased by 6 mph but it now rides like a bigger bike up any hill and loves the straights.
I would recommend the kit, it should come with a 15 tooth front sprocket too.
I fitted a Black widow front exhaust and a Delkavic rear, it sounds great now.
Just about to fit a set of Lamber deleting sensors to so I'll let you know if they make any difference.
If you get the full kit don't forget to install the resistor to the sensor in the air box. It comes with instructions.

Absolutely awesome to hear. I have a 2002 model so no sensors for me  :D

I didn't know they come with sprockets, so that's good to know. I don't think you have to get a new chain for it, right?

My engine is going strong at 89k km, but some noises I'm not completely used to are indeed coming from it, but the suspicion is that the timing chain is still original, but if the engine goes I'm definitely getting the cc kit if you recommend it. Thank you very much!

Oh, and what kind of Delkevic rear do you have? From what I'm aware of, there are no special-tailored delkevic rears for the XL125V, so was curious for which model do you have? I know the link pipe is 51.5mm, so most slip-ons fit well, but regarding the size and shape I am curious if it fits :)
