I have the manual posted with the whole stock diagram, get a universal aftermarket dash that has the functions the stock one does, and replace it, get a connector set too so you dont fiddle with tape and wire per manual.

12.7V is low, charge the battery, manual says it should be in the 13V range, if you can rev the engine but dont get power it could be your clutch is worn, i have uploaded the full service manual if you want to troubleshoot anything.

Take a multimeter put the bike on center stand and rev it, the voltage should be stable if it goes into the 14V range its propably a stabilizer issue. If you have halogens in the dash i suggest switching to LEDs they are T10 bulbs just make sure they are non-canbus LEDs, also check if the lights wont flash id you apply pressure on the bulbs fiddle with them, if nothing works its either the bulbs are dying, or faulty voltage stabilizer. Got the manual posted if you want to troubleshoot, even has the diagram.

I should also note that you should connect the multimeter to a place like the front bulb connectors for example as the battery will read stable voltage anyways.

I posted the full service manual in my post  electrical problems suck on this bike, if i remember right there is ways to troubleshoot some on the last pages of the bike, electrical diagram too.

My issue is the dash light will constantly burn out over 2months time even tho the bike outputs a stable voltage, i ordered some Lower output LEDs to the previous High power LEDs i had installed, halogen are a no no. If you need any help with lights, i would be happy to share my knowledge. Got LED replacements for every part of the bike thats fits amazingly, as for the speedo bouncing, could either be the motors inside the dash or the cable, OEM is expensive yes, but what i learned from honda bikes its the best to do so. Check ali express for replacement, i believe the cable is similar to what they have on other models like the cbr and f, it could be something else and not the cable, i havent looked into the mechanism.

I think the fault finding section for the sensor would still be applicable.

Quote from: S Barker on  17/03/25 - 19:09:48I only have a manual or a 2012 XL125. and I'm not sure what year a "V2" model would be but I dont think the speedo system will be much different.

I've attached the fault finding section for the speedo from the 2012 manual.

Spending time to try and identify the problem before paying for replacement parts is always a good idea.

If the fault is intermittent faulty or corroded connectors and earth points would be prime suspects.

Thank you very much but it's a 2002  :D
I have the Haynes manual for it, but it doesn't tell me too much about troubleshooting exactly what I'm having.. could be bad connectors, could be the sensor, but thank you very much  ^-^

I purchased a XL125V2 a few months back, and it has had issues with the speedometer where it completely doesn't work, and sometimes jumps up to top speed, sometimes in the middle, it's really random, usually when it's idling or riding.

The suspicion is the speed sensor, but the OEM original ones are WAAYYY too expensive, so I want to ask if there is anybody who would know any possible solutions? Anybody who has had any similar issues? Maybe know a cheaper alternative for the sensor?

General / Lowering
Last post by EasyRider - 16/03/25 - 06:58:58
Hi all.

I have a 2013 Varadero 1000,
The problem i am having is the weight as its all high up.
I am looking into ways of making the bike lower to see if it would help. I do take a pillion 90% of the time and my preload is set to nearly max.
Now one thought is to buy 40mm hyperpro lowing links and a hyperpro rear spring. I understand the spring is 20mm longer than the OEM spring.
So what my thinking is, with both the lowering links and spring the bike will be 20mm lower. But i would not need to have my preload set to nearly max which would lower it a bit more.
So if i can get it to work out at around 30mm lower than it is now and the yokes dropped down the forks the same amount to.
So how does my thinking sound to you guys, do you think is will work and help.

cheers Mart

It was exactly as I thought, the valve adjustment screw had fallen off  :)

The threads on the screw is a bit damaged so now I'm looking for a new.
