Electrical / Re: XL125V2 Speedometer bounci...
Last post by CraddyMcPatty - 07/04/25 - 11:43:26
Hello again, long story short: The speed sensor has super thin wires inside that managed to break at some point, probably after a crash or when someone tried dragging out the sensor without unscrewing it or something.

All in all, bought a used speed sensor from an xl125v1 (with the magnets n stuff attached) for around 75 euro (890 NOK) and swapped out the whole "speed-reading-system". Now my odometer and speedometer works like a dream  ;D

Quote from: SpiderSpit on  26/03/25 - 08:41:39I posted the full service manual in my post  electrical problems suck on this bike, if i remember right there is ways to troubleshoot some on the last pages of the bike, electrical diagram too.

My issue is the dash light will constantly burn out over 2months time even tho the bike outputs a stable voltage, i ordered some Lower output LEDs to the previous High power LEDs i had installed, halogen are a no no. If you need any help with lights, i would be happy to share my knowledge. Got LED replacements for every part of the bike thats fits amazingly, as for the speedo bouncing, could either be the motors inside the dash or the cable, OEM is expensive yes, but what i learned from honda bikes its the best to do so. Check ali express for replacement, i believe the cable is similar to what they have on other models like the cbr and f, it could be something else and not the cable, i havent looked into the mechanism.

Thanks for the feedback, I think after some thorough checking, it is in fact the speed sensor that has been broken by previous owner(s). Do you have the specific model & year of the bikes that use the same sensor? Would be largely appreciated as I am looking around for used ones in the country from parted out bikes  :)

The stock hallogens pull a total of 70W so anything under is fine, i got a good set of aliexpress i can send you the link, the arw projectors so its a bright straight line which lays low so not bliding and they barely get warm and pull 30W total, i live outside the city so i can say from experience thet light up the woods pretty well
Also to add to my post, the max capacity is at 250W for the bike with 90W going for the stock halogens all around i did a complete LED swap and now i have the capacity for GPS system which i ordered, grip and seat warmers and fog lights late on.

Last post by SpiderSpit - 26/03/25 - 09:01:57
Get a universal LCD and replace according to manual diagram, or go to aliexpress and get a replacement for the 2 dials just make sure they are the same size, dont search for varadero 125 dials, just search for motorcycle dials or something like that

I have the manual posted with the whole stock diagram, get a universal aftermarket dash that has the functions the stock one does, and replace it, get a connector set too so you dont fiddle with tape and wire per manual.

12.7V is low, charge the battery, manual says it should be in the 13V range, if you can rev the engine but dont get power it could be your clutch is worn, i have uploaded the full service manual if you want to troubleshoot anything.

Take a multimeter put the bike on center stand and rev it, the voltage should be stable if it goes into the 14V range its propably a stabilizer issue. If you have halogens in the dash i suggest switching to LEDs they are T10 bulbs just make sure they are non-canbus LEDs, also check if the lights wont flash id you apply pressure on the bulbs fiddle with them, if nothing works its either the bulbs are dying, or faulty voltage stabilizer. Got the manual posted if you want to troubleshoot, even has the diagram.

I should also note that you should connect the multimeter to a place like the front bulb connectors for example as the battery will read stable voltage anyways.
