Dwarf, Ginger and I went for a run today.
Met up at Bridge End for a run up the coast.
Mick brought a mate on a Yamaha R6. So it was mainly A roads as we didn't want to break him

Got up as far as Cushendall and I felt the need for some singletrack on the way to Cushendun and the start of Torr head.
Visability was not great. But mainly dry roads and nearly 10c in Jan is good enough for me.
But we stopped for pics halfway.

Through Torr Head and into Ballycastle.
Dwarf and the R6 rider headed for home.
Ginger and I went for a big fry  :-)
Then along the coast as far as Dunserverick for more pics.

A steady ride on B roads back to the big smoke took us through Clogh, Broughshane and Doagh.
Home in time to wash the bike before the rain.
Great run. around 140 miles. No rain, mainly dry roads and not to cold.

Really enjoyed the run john, pity I had to cut it short but had to get the newbie back home in one piece. Hopefully get a few more runs in this year on the motorised bike and on that thought how the f**k are you meant to register for VIM Wales, I feel like its some sort of crystal maze puzzle??
Maybe Gareth can send me some cheats so I can get in.

I did the same thing too. Uncovered my baby Vara, gave it a once over check (usual stuff), then filled it up & went on a ride out to Matlock.  Had a nice fairly quite ride, no dramas to speak of. Saw plenty of guys with the same idea! On the way back dropped into the Honda shop to drool over a nice new shiny Vara & warm my knees up too!

Just wanted to have my last ride as a 49 year old teenager! 50 on Monday!!  :o

New years plan.......... Go get my bike test done!! Should have done it when i had my old 250cc YDS7 Yamaha in the early 80's. Oh well, such is life, marriage, kids!!

Roll on summer.................
You can't always get what you want........

Great to get out so early in the year mate. Looking forward to more as the year goes on.
Drop S Barker a PM and he will sort VIM for you (hopefully)

Now Im embarrassed.....my first ride this year was from my mates place in a village called Jesus ('Yezu') back up to my place....only about 20 miles covered but I was wearing jeans and a moto-X shirt...temp @ 19c 8)
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path..... and leave a trail...!

Hi folks,
glad I'm not the only one happy to go out just for fun at this time of year. To be honest, I haven't actually put my Vara to bed for the winter. Been caught out a few times in the rain, but last weekend I went from Oakham (Rutland) to Kings Lynn, Hunstanton, Cromer, Great Yarmouth, Thetford, Peterborough and home.
Bloomin' lovely day out. You got to make the most of these nice weekends, you never know when the really sh#t weather is gonna hit us.
Stay upright guys & girls.

Its nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Great to see so many getting out in the milder weather.
May have to batton down the hatches for a week or to if the weather man is to be believed.

Any pics guys?

I'll nominate myself as the first to be out this year... Given the fairly good weather over the New Year's Eve / Day period myself & Mrs HPE decided to go see the new year in opposite the London Eye - just a 800 mile round trip from Norn Iron. Rode into London early in the day and scouted around all the big tourist attractions before parking up and heading into the crowds about 6:00pm, just a six hour wait for 11 minutes of fireworks! Then an hour to walk back to the bike (less than a mile away) and a further hour or so ride back out to our hotel, finally in at 2:30am New Years Day. So, I'll claim first ride this year (unless you know different) !
