Hi all,

Ive got a street pilot III colour map, (the old one) ive got it sitting right in the middle of the handlebars, ive never been using it when it really pours down so its only had a light splash of rain on it, but when it rains i always get the urge to take it off and put it in my topbox, however this somewhat goes against the whole point of having satnav,i know they are supposed to be waterproof but how waterproof are they?.

Has anyone used theres in a real downpour, and if so was there any probs after? thanks

Mr NiceGuy

I've got the Streetpilot 2610 and that was tested the other week in a real heavy downpour without any problem and never dropped it's satellite coverage. It is mounted in middle of the cross bar too so on the move it's protected mainly by the screen but when stationery it gets the full downpour. With Garmins quality I wouldn't expect yours to be any less capable.
I know I was born and I know that I'll die and what is in-between is mine, all mine.

Just about every Garmin is guaranteed to stay waterproof at 1 Metre for 30 minutes, which is more than can be said for the "water resistant" TomTom Rider
