Did this event with some friends a couple of weeks ago.

http://www.prc-rally.com/

We weren?t sure quite what to expect of this rally as the format seemed to change a few times on the run up to the event. As it happens, it was a bit different and great fun.

The event cost ?39 for a rider and ?18 for a pillion.

We arrived at the start venue a little bit late after a reasonably short run to the event, having stayed with friends in south Wales (mainly due to sampling the local produce..)

Signed on, had a short riders briefing, a hand over of road book and associated clues and guides. Including sealed envolopes only to opened in the event of disaster(!)

Off we went ? to the first ?special test?. (We weren?t expecting any specials) One member of our team was a bit worried at the prospect, being a newish rider. She didn?t need to worry, as it was a very simple ?slow riding? race. Unfortunately, she posted the fastest time of the day? but, she did much better than those that wouldn?t do it!

The format of the day was to follow the roadbook to various points where we would answer questions based on what we find in those places.

The run then started OK with simple distructions from the roadbook (for anyone that doesn?t know a roadbook indicates what to do at junctions or other obvious navigational waypoints) Normally, armed with a roadbook an accurate trip meter and some common sense we?d have no problems?

No maps of GPS were allowed.

Dan explained that the roadbook was littered with inaccuracies to try and throw us off?. Great?

By the second page, the mileages disappeared?

By the third page, the cryptic navigation clues crept in?

By the fourth page we were well and truly lost.

By page six, we were back on track but a bit late?

In the end however, having covered 140+ miles of Pembrokshire?s finest unknown tourist areas and adventure biking roads we arrived back at the hotel for the "posh dinner" and awards ceremony. To find we were the last group back. When the points were toted up, we also came dead last BUT, we?d beaten all the folks that dropped out during the event because it was too hard? of which there were a few?

The event raised nearly ?300 for charity (a number which I am sure will rise as most of those that took part all declared that they would pay additional monies?)

Me and Liz are looking forward to the next one? if any of you fancy it, I'm sure most would enjoy it.

Sounds good fun - any idea when the next one is or is there a website with details?
