Hi, all. How big is your's, or more to the point, how big can I make mine?!
I mean the data card in my Streetpilot 3. I have a 128mb card in it, but this doesn't give me room for all my routes through Scotland, England and France this year.
I've read various ads for a 256Mb card, but some say I can use it while others say I cannot. Anybody any idea?
Thanks, Ian

Got a feeling that I remember being told that the SPIII has a Garmin OEM card, ie you can only use s Garmin card and that they only come as 128's.

may be wrong ....... usually am >:(

Garmin do a 256mb card for the sp3, but it is a garmin special...different shape etc, you can get them from maplins electronics amongst other places for ?140 ish... but if you look at american shops you could get one for ?95 ish.

yikes  :o

?140 for a memory card !

I have been buying odd bits and pieces from ebay and I can put together a full gps system for around ?125 based on a used Compaq Ipaq hand held PC, the latest leadtek receiver and 512meg cf or SD.

The main disadvantage is that its not waterproof, its not a problem as I prefer to use the voice instructions when moving.

Big advantage is that you have  a hand held PC that can also be used as an MP3 player, organiser etc.

If anyone is interested in a system send me a PM.

I wonder what happen if I click on this - Ooops

well the other day i recieved my genuine garmin 256mb card for less than half the price of buying it in the uk, and it works absolutely fine with sp3, brought from ebay seller $savingdeals who seemed to have the lowest price when you included p & p.

I just tried to use an Ipaq for tomtom5 software, the Ipaq came with a GPS sleeve not bluetooth, it was poor in the extreme, kept losing signal and tt freezing, poor commands, usually a bit to late to do them anyway, maping was not what I thought it would be , my Avensis has sat nav fitted 2001 maps and the whole system is better than current tt software (I feel)

Blahhhh

Which version of TomTom? I have version5 on my XDA2s and it works a treat.

Dozz I have set up TT 3 on a variety of Ipac's. Most people I know who upgraded from TT3 on older PDA's reported a loss of performance (the proccessor couldn't keep up).

If you are interested in TT3 and/or a set of European maps for TT3 send me a PM.

I had an option to buy the Ipaq but have given up, it was an older one, i'm now thinking about using a Nokia phone with bluetooth GPS and a set of earbuds, It was tt5 software I was using, the thing is i'm leaving in 2 weeks and want to be sorted soon so I can play with it beforehand .
