Anybody found a better deal than The AA for European recovery?
Looking to cover at least 3 bikes annually.... or better still, get 'rider' cover!
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path..... and leave a trail...!

Mrs R did work for Barclays 'til last year. They do an account called "additions" which gives loads of bank type benefits (I don't get involved).
One of the side benefits is whatever you ride or drive has European cover. Costs about ?12 a month :D

Can she enroll forum friends, dirt bike buddies......and errrm...crawling tight wads?

The only alternative I know of is through the insurance company ie. Roadsure, etc.

She doesn't need to, it's not a staff thing, all you have to do is open one of those accounts.

;) Never used it for a bike but Brittania Rescue' http://www.csma.uk.com/motoring/britanniarescue/cover.asp'; do brilliant cover at home and in Europeeven if you're not eligible for the Civil Service discount.
Everything is for the best, in this the best of all possible worlds

The Speeding Stag

I have had AA, RAC and both tried to charge me a fortune. Green Flag do UK and Europe cover me for anything I ride or drive, ?110 a year.
I had to use them once, comming back from Ireland, they were very good.

Harv, Carol Nash gives auto cover in the EU,and also gets the bike back,This part of their service is v-good,just be prepared to fight your own corner on a claim.
Hope this is of help.

Jimbo

I can't speak more highly of Brittania Rescue because they have always come up trumps for me and my family; howver, I joined through the csma so got a good deal. Be careful with some of the cover offered by insurance companies because some only offer breakdown cover and not accident cover so if you lost it on a corner and bust a clutch lever you would not be covered.

As an aside, if you are/ever have been a civil servant or BT, Post Office etc consider the csma  http://www.csma.uk.com/  and quote V157 in the "how did you find out about us" type question. They've got a very active bike touring section who travel all over Europe at half the cost of over tour providers such as MCi.

Totally agree with Jimbo, Britannia rescue are the Dogs wotsits. Never had to wait longer than an hour before assistance turns up? O0

I posted a few weeks ago that I had been in touch with the AA regarding discounts for members.
It was a 15% deal they were offering, but I got little if any response.

Would you be interested in me approaching any of the other recovery people for a deal.

Poll set up, so lets see if it's worth while or not.

The only reservation I have about the AA is they dont do older bikes...fine for Vara's etc less than 11 years old but some of us take the old toys out to play sometimes.
Brittannia do older bikes though.....

I'm open to any suggestion, but would like to gauge interest before entering into discussion.

Let's see what response we get and then open up to views as to which companies offer what etc.

Sorry to come into this thread late. NCI Online's biker rescue is excellent and associated with both MCN  :-\ and the BMF :). European and UK cover for a year ?85 for one vehicle, ?107 for "Personal Membership" (mutiple vehicles).

I used them a few weeks ago and they kept me informed of progress, the truck arrived in a reasonable time, and thy took good care of me and bike.
