Just found an alternative to the French Moto-Rail, Auto-Train, for anyone wanting to tour the south of France or Spain but doesn't have time to ride all the way down. It's an overnight service from Paris down to Narbonne with sleeper accomodation and saves about 600 miles of riding, petrol, tyre wear and tolls for about ?280-?300 return.

I think both are operated by SNCF, but Auto-Train doesn't seem to be promoted as much.
