Xl1000 Possible source of electrical gremlins!

I'm in the process of restoring my Xl1000V4 (80,000 miles on the clock).

Whilst stripping the front end out I noticed that the wiring loom sits against the hex nut for the instrument cluster bracket.  Moving the loom clear i can see that it has worn through and exposed wires.

I haven't been having any serious electrical problems apart from the occasional non starting but this could be the cause of issues for others.  Will identify which wire is damaged once I strip down further!

Ps I've got the powder coating bug  ;D
