Looking for some local knowledge; heading to the MotoGP at Donington and keen to know if there's such a thing as a good route (ie; non-motorway) from Kirkby Lonsdale to Donington?

KL to Wetherby is an option, but struggling after that for a reasonably simple, sort-of-direct, non-urban route. Any ideas  ???

As someone who has been to Donnington frequently I have to dissappoint you by saying the area around the circuit is shite, busy, heavily policed and full of frustrated air travellers and weekend warriors who come out and be a Rossi wannabe once a year.... but if you must .... then the best way in for you has to be through Deryshire and approach from the NW.
Prodded Dog has to be your man for that route but if he fails you then you wont go far wrong coming via Glossop, Chapel en le Frith, Buxton, Matlock and Alfreton..... better still, spend the day in the peaks and then go round to the Dog's place and watch the highlights on his TV whilst snuggled up on his sofa with his wife and stash of Special Brew.... ::)
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path..... and leave a trail...!

.....and remember, "Light travels faster than the speed of sound, which is why some people appear bright until they speak"

You could always pretend you are using GPS and come down the M6 and then along the A5  >:D

Thanks gents  :applause:

There is one of the guys with a GPS thingy, but you know how I love going round in circles following someone with a GPS..we'll get there a whole lot quicker if it's written in ink , on paper, in my see-through tankbag pocket, and I'm at the front  <worship

Harv; I had a feeling that would be the general lie of the land down in Englandshire on the weekend of the GP. We have tickets for Sat & Sunday, so will be leaving this glorious country very early, hoping to arrive at Kirkby Lonsdale about 9.30, then another 2-3 hours to Donington
