ktm 1200gs buell

Has any one read the write up in yesterdays mcn,the buell ulysses,BMUU r1200gs and the ktm 990 adventure.the buell as a bike generally total waste of tarmac,the BMUU as usual ok,but the ktm had a cracking write up.(q for some crowing from some one on the forum. ).
The only thing that perhaps let it down was the seat comfort ? a good read.

I was reading that article this morning at work. Like you I can't believe that Buell haven't researched the market more thoroughly for this bike. Every Bike mag i've read, and i read them all, has said the same; high seat, crap turning circle, no wind protection, useless off road, lack of outright power, too expensive, weaves at high speed. Compared to the BMUU or KTM its no contest. although I have to say it does still look pretty cool, and the belt drive, and rim mounted brakes do look good and are unique for a trailie. If I had the money though I'd go for the BMUU and the Pedigree.

Anyone read the writeup on the Fazer Thousand? has anyone got one? Am seriously thinking about a secondhand one, as I've never read anything bad about them...yet

The KTM seat is notoriously uncomfortable on the early models.
The 05 bikes had a lower gel seat as standard.
There is a company in the US knocking seats out for them that are 'dished' somewhat but it reduces the riders ability to slide from side to side to get some weight transfer.
I suppose the perfect solution is having a touring saddle and a sporting saddle!
Once again its horses for courses....KTM 950/990 is the best adventure sports bike on the market IMHO but its not  the best adventure tourer....
....anyway. whats an old git like you doing looking at new bikes...you should be perusing the Clarks brochure for comfy shoes and the latest Saga holiday's....

Actually Harv...my last work shoes were from Clarks...first time in 30 years and they are soooo comfy. Next to DM's I rate them...... :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:

Don't forget Shackletons high seat chairs. come complete with a Cab Sav holder in the arm rest.

A friend in my club has had two.  They do everything very well if nothing fantastically.  Comfortable, smooth, reliable, handle quite well, generally good all rounder which can be fun.  My friend is a very good rider.  Probably the best I know.  He has made a few mods to suit his size (v tall) and style (fast.)  It probaby lacks a little personality, but it starts without fail and he does a lot of miles, many of those two up.  Depends what you want.  Depends what you want to use it for but its a good basic design.
