Another round of applause for Roadsure - ?41 cheaper than Bennetts and much better cover - RAC Euro cover, green card, 3rd party on any other owners bike (with their permission of course) none of which was offered by Bennetts.

For which bike Aitzw? what have you gone for?

Blahhhh

Put my sensible hat on again.

Kwak Z750s was IMO an awesome machine, 2nd gear, peak power about to appear and it's going 85. Bit of a different riding position for me, more on top of the bike that sitting into it. To mad for me, likely to get me into more trouble than I have skill or experience to get out of.
Suzi DL650 was ok. That's all. Just ok. Lots of head buffeting and turbulance from the screen and an uncomfy saddle. I was gutted after testing this because beforehand I thought that I would buy it for sure but after the 750s it was just nothing special.
I then had a go on a new Bandit 650s which had a better seat than the Kwak, more spirrited ride and performance than the DL but a lot more windblast.

Then I spotted a bike online at Perth Motorcycles, got a test run on it on saturday, with the Mrs on the back .... both of us were super comfy. Performance is down on the F650 but I expect I will have a much easier time filtering and getting through traffic on my.....

NT650v Deauville - In white.

Ordered for the police but they cancelled  :police:  and me with my fluro-yellow jacket on, just need a white helmet now and watch me cut through traffic  :2funny:

Redeye

aitzw, thats what I call a sensible choice.? O0

It's got everything you need. V engine, comfy seat, built-in luggage, shaft drive, good weather protection, good fuel range.
Do they make a bigger version?
Oh shit of course they do - like what I have!? ::)

Blahhhh

lol - if the pan was only 2 inches narrower I would have had one

Nice one, aitzw. Did you push them for any aftermarket freebies (slippers, pipe, cardigan, thermos.......... ;D )

Only kidding:- each to their own (and shouldn't we all know, for riding Varas). Hope to see you out and about soon  O0

When do you get the bike ?

Blahhhh

Get it on Saturday - then I'm off to Halfords for some reflective yellow tape - some stripes down the side and maybe a black & which "chess board" effect graphic somewhere will cheer up the paintwork  ;D

No freebies with it i'm afraid but there is a smashing wee dookit on the fairing that looks good for keeping me dentures in

OK, so its a year since we all really spoke about insurance,...

So,...for those interested, here's my experiences for the last year,....

1) Took out fully comp policy with Roadsure last July, ?240 for Vara & Valkyrie + RAC cover + legal aid, ?300 excess, that was with 6 years NCB.

2) October, had crash on Vara on Skye Run, wiped out LHS of bike. Thank God I went fully comp.

3) One call to Roadsure was all it took, everything else happened smoothly, seamlessly and I could not have asked for a better service from Roadsure, the loss adjustors or the repairers.

4) Insurance claim came to just over ?3K.

5) A year on, and its time for my renewal. Roadsure have sent my renewal notice through. My NCB has dropped to 2 years, The previous underwriter won't offer renewal terms, so I have been quoted with a new underwriter. Premium is ?417 full comp, ?300 excess, legal protection included.

6) Calling around I have got the following quotes (all full comp cover, with both the Vara and the Valk),...

     a) Bennetts,...Premium - ?340, excess - ?350, includes legal protection.

     b) Carol Nash,...Premium - ?390, excess - ?250, includes legal protection, breakdown cover on both bikes.

     c) The Insurance Line,...Premium - ?370, excess - ?250, includes legal protection, courtesy bike, breakdown cover on both bikes, helmet & leathers cover, ?10K personal accident cover.

Have been impressed with "The Insurance Line" so far (they are part of the Swinton Group), cheapest quote and best level of cover, so I am going with them this year. Roadsure were excellent, but with a ?50 cheaper premium, lower excess, and all the other (breakdown and leathers) cover, I've got to change.

If you want to try "The Insurance Line" their number is 0800 298 2740

Roadsure's number is 08456 021 200.

Yep, I did call them, when I told them the deal I had been offered they didn't even try to compete. I was told that the best they would be able to do was knock ?20ish off. By the time I added on their breakdown cover, helmet & leather cover, personal accident cover (to give the same level of cover as the other company) it would have cost me about ?100 more than the other company. AND, unfortunately Roadsure could not lower the excess from ?300 to ?250.

To be honest I would have liked to stay with Roadsure as I was so impressed with them, but a saving of ?100 (and lower excess) is too much to ignore (I told the girl at Roadsure this and she was competely understanding). I will be trying them again next year.

Further development,....

Roadsure's renewal notice indicated that as a result of my crash my NCB had dropped to 2 years.

I asked them to send a proof of NCB so I could send to the new broker. The proof of NCB letter from KGM insurance (my old underwriter), arrived yesterday stating a NCB bonus of 4 years???

I called them to comfirm, which they did.

I called my new broker to explain situation, and he expressed concern as it seems that there has been an admin error on KGM's part, and it may affect any future claim.

Faxed him the proof of NCB letter, he called KGM, and spoke to a lady who could not explain why I was sent a letter stating 4 years NCB. She said that it was an error and the actual NCB was 3 years (different yet again). New broker then re-ran quote with 3years NCB which reduced my premium by ?30.

I then called KGM to request a new proof of NCB be sent to me stating 3 years NCB. Spoke to the same lady as my broker did. She apologised for the confusion and then said "we have made a mistake in sending out the wrong information, and we will stand by and honour the original proof of NCB letter that you have received"
I asked her to call my broker to confirm this.

My broker then called me back 10 mins later, to say that KGM called him to confirm 4 years NCB, this then took my premium down further to ?317. He wasn't sure what had happened, but KGM are willing to stand by their original figures and confirm the 4 years NCB. He also said that KGM (along with Equity Red Star, my new under writer) were the two best companies at sorting out problems and are also the most flexible underwriters out there (a point worth remembering).

Me thinks that as they are not renewing my policy they are not too bothered about the NCB. Suits me nicely though, saves me ?53 over the original quote and gets me back up to maximum NCB 2 years quicker.

Makes a pleasent change to hear a good news story about an insurance company be so helpful and flexible eh!
