Right folks

I have checked a few travel insurance companies now including my own multi trip annual policy and they DO NOT cover you over a 125cc motorcycle. Yes sure if you have an accident or take ill in your lesiure time, that's covered, but not as a result of a motorcycle incident.

I found the BMF policy and the NCI policy - see above - all offer annual cover. But believe it or not the cheapest with excellent cover is from kwik Fit.

See there website below

I know I am being cautious but having been incapacitated earlier this year with my ankle injury it does make you think. If that happened in Poland - how the hell would we get home with the motorcycle. Wifespice can not drive.

Be interested in Owens experience on his recent incident in foriegn parts.

Hello Peeps,
Well what a funny day hospital first thing,i cannot get this arm comfortable or out of pain so had a hard splint made, so dont feel a happy bunny(Funny thing to say nether touched a bunny up ).
Then my vara turns up from holland its well mashed, its very upsetting,I really dont know if it will be written off or not.But my scotch eggs have gone wrotten and all the top box contents are mildewee, but the point to make my travel ins is an annual policy with the post office, it is loaded because of my leg  but myself and jane full eu cover and up to 21 days usa ?109.00 and after the dutch accident well worth every penny ambulance/hospital/surgery and repatriation done with out any aggro whilst the other person involved his tale is a very different one.
The bike was covered along side my carol nash policy,ok its taken a month to the day to get it back home, but all police costs and the garage recovery and storage charges plus its return home, people just dont realise the hassle to get a bike back from abroad, and the other person still awaits his bike and its still in holland because his comp will not pay the recovery or storage charges.
The next stop for me is to get the bike sorted by c/nash but up to now good service.
I think the point of this rather rambling post is read the small print. Cheapest aint ness the best, but word of mouth is allways the best recomendation.

OK folks

UPDATE

I got my policy through and despite asking specifically for travel insurance cover when on motorcycle, it transpires that the Kwik Fit policy - see above - does not cover this.

After a few calls they have since refunded my premium. I have e mailed Motorcycle Voyager to see if they will do some research on this and publish something........so its back to the drawing board unless you have some steers.

Sorry if anybody has picked this policy up....please call them now or e mail....you should get your money refunded

Two years ago my wife dragged me to Rhodes, I wanted to go to THE island for the manx GP but as soon as we arrived I hired a 125 Varadero and went howling about the place in my shorts and Jesals (jesus sandals) I know, I know I should have worn sannies at least. One day I hired a Honda cruiser thing with a front wheel like a garden roller (like Desperate Dan) and we rode down to Prassonisi where I got the only injury of the trip, I went wind surfing and all the sun cream washed off and left me with a life jacket shape burnt onto me.
Anyway, to the point : I only found out later that the supposed 'extra' cover we took out did not cover  motorcycle accidents, in other words crash a bike abroad and yer bum's oot the windae.

And believe me you don't want to end up in hospital on Rhodes. My Dad had a very, very close call with Pneumonia out there a few years ago (a very common complaint apparently) - the new hospital was like a prison camp; he was treated like a prisoner of war. It was baaaaad - and he was properly insured!
Team DNF is now just waiting for another arse kicking...

Hi,
I get free travel insurance with my royal bank of Scotland bank Acct and it does include travel abroad with a motorcycle
