Howdy all, looking for some advice, on my 125 vara on the nearside the screw/bolt that holds my fairing to my fuel tank is completely rusted and rounded, I have tried quite a few things to get it out but have been unsuccessful. any help would be much appreciated.

tried

  • WD 40 the hell out of it
try and hammer in a straight edge to get a grip
try and use a rubber band for grip
use a larger bolt to try and get more purchase.
plus a few others

bloody thing just won't move.

the only thing I can't do is drill a drill bit into it and use that for purchase, but seeing as my sister borrowed my drill and claims she "never"...  ??? i'm at a loss.

As it is to hold plastic onto the tank then an impact driver is a no no.
Looks like you need a drill.
Either drill a smaller diameter drill down the centre of the bolt and use an "easitout" . http://www.screwfix.com/p/screw-extractor-5-piece-set/18643
Or Drill/grind the head away. Remove the plastic and try mole grips. Last resort is to electro weld a bar to it and use that as a lever.

I can still do all the things I could when I was 21, but now it is with less teeth.

depends on access to bolt, but in the past, i've used a dremmel to cut a slot in the head, or drill a few small holes in the head to form a slot. and a lot of waiting (days) for plus gas, or diesel to soak in..i've also used a heat gun then a freeze spray to expand & contract the threads. but with a fuel tank maybe not ! ....patience really is the issue. good luck.
