Just done a lap of Scotland with wifey  :) had a right good time.
Claimed back my island
The Isle of Harris from now on will be referred to as Harris Island
It all came about some years ago when i first got the idea,
At the age of 4 or 5 just learning to read and write ( still learning) i discovered my surname is Harris and a few years after this realisation i discovered that there is an island called Harris part of the Outer Hebrides, every since these discoveries i have wanted to go and have a look.

Now since all of this talk of Scottish independance (personally not right bothered either way) i thought that if they want it, i want my island back.
So the idea was hatched, just got to get wifey onboared hmmmm.....
our 21st wedding anniversary was coming up and what better way to celebrate than to be Mr & Mrs Harris in the Harris Hotel on the island of Harris, it worked.so i booked it and started to plan my invasion / route.
Managed to finish work around 14:00hrs on a Tuesday jumped on the Bike and Headed for Edinburgh and the Hard Rock Cafe

Managed to find a few other bars enroute to the Hard Rock Cafe

correctly named the worlds end as you wouldn't want to carry on living after being in here.so moving on when in Scotland do as the Scotish do drink Whisky/Whiskey and where better than this place:-

www.whiskibar.co.uk After having our fill of to the local travel lodge cheapish but basic. up early Wednesday had a look at the 2 big bridges

through Glasgow up the side of Loch Lomond
up and over Glen coe

Stopping in Fort William for the Night at the www.Cruachan Hotel.com
reminded us of the Adams family House.

Riding through Spean Bridge to the Comando Memorial

and onto the Kyle of lochalsh over the Sky Bridge

through Portree to Uig for the Ferry to Harris island

The First view of my island

Booked into www.Harrishotel.com a very nice place highly recommended

Friday after a large Scottish Breakfast, we toured the islands
South Harris North Harris and Lewis clocking up 160miles.
on the west coast of the islands the beaches are of golden white sand and stretch for miles the east coast reminded me of  the Canaries baron desolate volcanic with water and sheep instead of goats.

There are lots of Celtic monuments churches and stones to look at

St.Clements Church at Rodel South Harris

then up to the Butt of Lewis and the Lighthouse there

random pic's of my Kingdom

Up really early Saturday Morning Left the Harris Hotel at 05:00hrs to ride up to Stornaway for the Ferry back to the Mainland Ullapool

Hey Dave and mrs Dave, I live on the isle of Tiree on the inner Hebrides. I've done the same trip as you although not all in your fantastic order. The great north road to John o groats from Ullapool is simply epic! The stone bridges and excellent twisty roads are something every biker should experience. My wings are clipped at the moment as I had a heart attack two weeks ago at the age of 34, nothing sinister just a freak accident at 5 aside football. Anyway my wife and I are bursting at the seams to mount our vara and head off for a week or so and your thread has been the first thing I've smiled at since so thanks. Our bike is identical to yours very nice. Cheers for the photos and story. All the best billy.

The Prodded Dog

One word....Epic!!!  :) :)
See you at the end of the month.
