The ferry will take the four of us from Plymouth to Santander and should dock around midday. From there we'll head West along the coast until we reach the N621 which will take us South through the Picos National Park on what looks like (according to Google) a stunning road  ;D. We'll spend our first night next to the Embalse de Ria?o (reservoir) about 100 miles from the ferry. The next day will take us through the 2nd of the many National Parks that we intend to ride through. We'll spend another night somewhere in Spain before crossing the Pyrenees at Formigal and into France on the D934 (another cracker of a road). We intend to hug the coast heading North up to Roscoff to catch the ferry back to Plymouth. This will take us up through the Pine forests of Landes and all the lovely fishing ports of the West coast and Brittany.
We're not going until July, but being an ex boy scout, there's nothing better than 'being prepared'  O:-)

I did that a few years ago. While in the Picos you should check out this cable car. It's well worth doing.

Thanks. I read your post/trip report. It looks like a great place to visit

One place I would recommend that you visit on your way up through France is Oradour - sur - Glane. It's not too far off your route, it's just to the NW of Limoges. It really is worth it. Here's a link for you to check it out.

It has been on our 'must visit' list for a while now, this trip may be the one  ^-^

Thanks for the link
